Join our Board

We’re looking for a few special people to join our board.

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of those diagnosed with prostate cancer? We’re seeking passionate and skilled volunteers to join our board.

Culture

Wonder what’s involved?

As a small staff team, we rely on the strength of our board. The board’s focus is governance and strategy development, and is also willing to roll up their sleeves when we need to get things done. Your contribution can make a HUGE difference—and it’s part of what makes this role impactful.

At a minimum, we ask our board volunteers to:

  • Participate in our monthly board meetings (10 per year and a mixture of in-person and virtual).
  • Contribute to the work of one board committee.
  • Represent IPC at special events.
  • Give a minimum of five volunteer hours each month.

We value previous board experience, but are primarily seeking expertise critical to our success—particularly in the areas of fundraisingfinancial managementgovernance and communications & marketing.

We encourage applications from people of all ages, backgrounds, and life experiences. We believe inclusion and diversity are essential to ensure that we meet our service users where they are, in ways that make sense for them.

Community

What’s in it for you?

This is a rewarding place to be if you believe in the power of community, want to be part of a dynamic and engaged team, and are ready to influence the future of prostate cancer care on Vancouver Island.

At a minimum, we ask our board volunteers to:

  • Contribute to the work of a community-based organization providing services to people and their families.
  • Learn from others in areas of interest to you.
  • Acquire new skills and experiences.
  • Share knowledge and understanding.

Our board members include prostate cancer survivors and their loved ones who know firsthand the life-changing value of our services.

Make us better.

We’re a small but mighty team looking to get mightier by adding some extraordinary new members. Maybe that’s you.

We actively recruit new board members, and they are appointed at our Annual General Meeting held in April. We welcome applicants with suitable skills and experience to join our board team and further our mandate.

Are we made for each other?
