25th Anniversary
We’re celebrating 25 years strong!
A party isn’t a party if your guests don’t join in the fun. This is a celebration of the life of Island Prostate Centre – and there’s simply no life here without you.
In the beginning
November 2025 marked a significant milestone for Island Prostate Centre.
It all started in 2000 when the Capital Region Prostate Centre opened its doors with a mission to support Vancouver Island men and their families in making informed decisions about their prostate health. Our founders, Dr. Charles Ludgate and Dr. Gary Steinhoff, had a vision for providing the kind of care that would benefit whoever needed it…and the rest is history.
Heartfelt thanks to our community
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our entire ‘IPC family’: to all those who have accessed our services over the years; to our generous donors that have carried us and buoyed our spirits; to the volunteers who have given their time or served on our Board; to our caring and committed staff; and to every champion who has pointed someone facing a diagnosis to our care.
From the bottom of our hearts – thank you for never letting us walk alone.
Prostate cancer care in our community
Thanks to you, we’ve been an integral part of the cancer journey for everyone who has walked through our doors over the past 25 years – and a resilient force in the lives of countless Vancouver Island men and their families.
With your help, we’ve enhanced the quality of care and expanded our programming to keep pace with the growing need in our community.
Together, we’ll push for what’s next: furthering our reach on the Island and strengthening relationships with our medical partners so they know we’re here to help everyone who needs us – from day one.
Share your photos and stories with us.
You carry the stories of where we started and how we’ve grown over the past 25 years. We’re asking you to dig deep into those boxes in the basement, the photo albums in the attic, the forgotten digital files, and your personal memory bank.
Tell us about a friendship sparked in our walking group, shoot us a retro photo from a recovery program workout (bonus points for sweatbands), or share how you strengthened a family bond through your cancer journey. We can’t wait to share your memories with our community – from our newsletters and social platforms to our on- and offline tools.
